What are magnetic plates?

Magnetic plates are industrial separators that are used to extract metal particles from a place where they are slowing down the effectiveness of production. 

Depending on the use we are going to give and the sector in which we are going to use it, we can use one type of magnetic plate or another since each one is specialized in one. Mainly there are:

• Automatic magnetic plates
• Semi-automatic magnetic plates
• Automatic food magnetic plates
• Sanitary magnetic plate
• Sanitary automatic magnetic plate
• Semi-automatic sanitary magnetic plate

Magnetic plates can be found in various forms:

1. Magnetic plate on belt: 

Most of the time magnetic plates are on conveyor belts, in this case, the products come in contact with the plate and are retained because of the magnetic attraction, while the non-metallic product follows the belt path.

2. Magnetic plate in pipelines or product drops

The plates in pipes or product drops are also known as the special P.E.F. plate. This type of magnetic plate does not establish any contact with the product but depends on the magnetic force of the plate, that is why the most used type of magnets are neodymium magnets.

The most commonly used magnets for these plates are neodymium and ferrite magnets and electromagnets, depending on the characteristics of the product to be treated, the dimensions of the plate and the magnetic material to be used for the extraction; we will use one type of magnet or another.

In addition to these two types of shapes we can also find the electromagnetic plate, which as its name suggests and unlike the previous ones, it works with electromagnets.

Uses and applications of magnetic plates

Magnetic plates are usually found in the food sector, to keep production free of impurities. On the other hand, electromagnetic plates have a protective function, i.e. they protect equipment such as milling equipment from possible damage and wear over time. It also avoids the presence of iron and prevents clogging inside the machinery.
